Fresno Chaffee Zoo
Throughout 2019 and 2020, Samantha volunteered as a Zoo Camp Junior Counselor at the Fresno Chaffee Zoo in Fresno, California. While volunteering at the zoo, Samantha was able to share as well as progress her knowledge about animals, the environment, and what we can do to protect both. It was here at the zoo that she first found her curiosity with conservation and sustainability, which later turned into a deep passion. She logged over 300 hours volunteering at the zoo and will never forget the experiences she had and memories she created.
Calvin Crest Outdoor School
During the 2019-2020 school year, Samantha volunteered with Sierra View Elementary School as a 6th Grade Camp Counselor at Calvin Crest Outdoor School. As a Camp Counselor, Samantha not only acted as a role model and guide for the campers, but she also acted as an assistant teacher by aiding in lessons about the local ecosystems, the local flora and fauna, and the local history. She continued to share and progress her own knowledge and experience, preparing her for her academic and professional career ahead.
