Background

Samantha Hatfield grew up in the Madera Ranchos near Fresno, California, in the Central Valley. She is an only child to Melissa and Gregg Hatfield. While growing up, she played volleyball with multiple teams, competed in English horse shows, participated in many school clubs and activities, and volunteered throughout her community.

Education

Samantha attended Sierra View Elementary School near her childhood home from 2007-2014. She then attended Ranchos Middle School from 2014-2016 and Liberty High School from 2016-2020. She graduated from Liberty in 2020 as a Valedictorian and CSF Life Member, among other honors. She is now attending California State University Long Beach in Long Beach, California. She is a Presidential Scholar in the Honors Program, and she is majoring in Environmental Science and Policy. She plans to graduate with her B.S. in 2024 and go on to achieve her Master's Degree in Environmental Science. 

Passions & Goals

Samantha is passionate about preserving nature and the environment for future generations. She loves traveling, camping, and hiking and using her experience and voice to make an impact. Career-wise, Samantha plans to better the world by working in a government organization or agency where she can advocate for environmental protections and immediate action to combat climate change.
